We released “Northgard’s Shores” on the 20th of January. Let me tell you the tale of this track.
This song was made in collaboration with The Musical Cartograph, who has been on board from the very conception of this track. He composed the music and as I started to write the lyrics we modified the track to create something that would be a proper tribute to the game Northgard.
Northgard is a Viking Strategy game that I have enjoyed for many hours in the past and probably many hours to come in the future. In Northgard’s Campaign, Rig follows the tracks of his sworn enemies to the mysterious magical world of Northgard, where he soon finds out a much darker plot than he had anticipated. It’s the role of the player to build settlements and raise armies, wealth, lore, or even become the best trader in order to win the game.
We made sure we caught the tough viking vibe as well as the mysterious and dark plot of the game. I think we succeeded in that quite alright, but don’t take my word for it: Listen to the release to venture into Northgard and defeat your foes!
LYRICS
“I am Rig, son of
the High King Hargurorf
and this
is my saga”
Northgard’s shores beckoned me
And I found them true and wise
Northgard’s shores beckoned me
Its wealth and fame are mine
Northgard’s shores beckoned me
And the others that arrived
And I found them, all of them
As they found their demise!
Springtime comes with each day
The crops grow soft and green
Summer comes; Baldr’s day
Hosting mighty feasts (Hahaaa!)
Autumn comes; rainy days
We are cutting down the trees
Winter comes and we pray
Freya, keep us free!
“He will want to set the men free
From the yoke of the All-Father
For he does not want them
To share in his feast
And to this end
He will destroy Bifrost
As the wail of Gjallarhorn
Echoes through the skies
The sons of Muspell
will march on Asgard
Thus the gods shall meet their fate
And the age of men shall begin!”
Northgard’s shores beckoned me
Northgard’s shores beckoned me here
Northgard’s shores beckoned me
Northgard’s shores beckoned me
And I found them true and wise
